'V' Victory - 1943 Canadian 5¢
Known as the Victory Nickel, this Canadian five-cent piece was first struck in 1943 during WWII was seen as a piece of Canadian propaganda. Around the edge of the 12 sided coin written in morse code reads: “We win when we work willingly”. The large V and flaming torch in the centre stood for both five (cents) and victory. These coins were carried by service men and women, and those at home, helping remind them of the war effort.
